Best DSLR for Beginners in Professional Photography Within 25k-40k with 300mm Lens

If you are a complete beginner in professional photography and are not well-versed with the functions of a camera other than Auto (A Mode), my suggestions would be to start with the Canon 1300D or the Canon 700D.

I purchased the Canon 1300D along with a 18-55 mm and 55-250 mm lens for approximately 32k. The difference between 250mm and 300mm lenses would not be significant in terms of performance for a beginner. For anyone looking for a newer model, the Canon 1500D would be a good alternative, though it would cost a bit more.

Camera Body Only vs. Camera Lens Budget

The budget I mentioned is for the camera body alone. If you are looking to invest in the body plus a wide range of lenses, there are limited options that fit within that budget. Moreover, a 300mm prime lens might not fit within this budget range. If you’re sticking to a 25k-40k budget, it is likely that you will either have to compromise on a valuable lens or look for more affordable options.

Closing the 300mm Gap

Considering the budget sufficient for a body alone, most entry-level DSLR cameras would perform well. The Canon 200D is a standout choice because it offers everything that the Canon 1 D X Mark II can offer, but scaled down and more affordable. At less than 40k, the Canon 200D can handle any photography need you can envision.

Cannon 200D with Lenses

For your budget, the Canon 200D with a 55–250 mm lens is an excellent choice. This combination will get you around 40-42K, and you can perform nearly any task with this setup. The autofocus is particularly impressive, even with the 9-point system, thanks to its precision and ability to focus in low light conditions. Considering the 70–300 mm lens from Canon, it may be quite costly and won't fit in this budget. However, a 300 mm f/4 prime lens is a more viable and affordable alternative, albeit slightly more expensive, around 1 Lakh.

Key Parameters for Professional Photography

For those starting out in professional photography, it's crucial to choose a camera model that can support various lenses for multiple shooting styles. Consider parameters such as maximum speed, a large ISO range, manual controls, and high retaining value. A camera with a high resolution and a large sensor size will provide flexibility in shooting under different conditions, allowing you to produce high-quality images without noticeable noise, especially in low light situations.
