My Personal Experience

I received three Jio Phones, and here's the breakdown of the cost: 1500 for the phone and 153 for a 28-day recharge, totaling 1653 rupees. The SIM card came pre-installed in the phone. While it does not yet support hotspot functionality, it does have Wi-Fi, which is sufficient for me since I own a smartphone. The calling feature is quite good, but let's dive deeper into the pros and cons observed during my two weeks of usage.

Delivery Experience in Hyderabad

I received my JioPhone on October 13th. Since I live in Hyderabad, I received an SMS in the afternoon to pick up my JioPhone at the nearest Reliance store. I went to the store in the evening and was surprised by the two large queues. I spent one hour in the queue before it was my turn. By that time, the stock was almost depleted, and people at the back of the queue were disappointed. Each person was allowed to purchase only one phone.

JioPhone Reviews after Two Weeks

Pros

HD Voice Calling: The call quality is outstanding, with excellent voice clarity. Wireless FM: This feature is handy for listening to the radio. JioTV, JioMusic, JioCinema Apps: All are functioning well, especially JioTV, which provides clear resolution for live TV, even on a small screen. Camera Quality: The camera is decent, meeting basic needs.

Cons

Build Quality: The build quality is average. Keypad and Camera: These components are below average. No Apps for Popular Services: There are no apps for services like Facebook and YouTube, and the inbuilt browser is not user-friendly. Voice Assistant: It takes a long time to process commands (20-30 seconds). JioVideoChat App: The app takes a long time to download.

Overall, despite the cons, the pros outweigh the negatives. Future software updates can rectify many of these issues.

Jio Phone Delivery Schedule

Jio Phones have started being delivered to rural areas, which was part of their initial target market. Since these areas lack internet access, Jio is focused on bringing it to those who need it the most. Consequently, deliveries to urban areas like Hyderabad are still pending. However, by Diwali, all who ordered the JioPhone will receive an SMS to collect their phone from the nearest outlet.
