My Journey with iPhones: A Teenagers Perspective

How Many iPhones Did I Buy Until Now?

As a teenager, I've found myself with a variety of phone models over the years, often acquiring them as they become functional enough to replace my previous one. My journey with iPhones has been quite interesting, and I've figured out that having multiple iPhones in my life assures that I won’t go too long without a replacement. Here’s a closer look at the iPhones I’ve bought and why each of them had to go.

My iPhone Journey: From My First to the Current One

My first iPhone was an iPhone 7 Plus. I then moved on to an iPhone X, followed by an iPhone Xs. I also had an iPhone 11 Pro, and found myself a bit stuck at the 11 Pro model for a while because I couldn’t leave it. I have two 11s, which have been my go-to devices since the 11 Pro wasn't working as expected, plus a Diamond Apple Watch that I eventually sold and upgraded to a Series 4. Apple watches are a whole debate, but truth be told, the series 4 was not enough of a change for me to justify keeping two Apple Watches.

Lessons Learned

Each iPhone, from the 7 Plus to the 11s, has taught me valuable lessons about what I need in a phone. I've learned that while the latest models offer the best features, updating my phone too often can be more of a financial strain. Plus, having too many devices can sometimes mean keeping them even when they aren’t the most user-friendly or storage efficient models for my needs.

Experimenting with Diverse Phone Models

While I've had my fair share of iPhones, I've also experimented with a variety of other phone models, such as Samsung, Micromax, and others. I bought a Micromax Q5 in March 2010, a Nokia 5233 in July 2011, an HTC Wildfire S in September 2012, and a Huawei Note 3 in November 2013. I also had a Nexus 5 in March 2014 and even a Motorola flip phone, which was a bit reminiscent of the Motorola StarTAC that was quite popular in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Lessons from Non-iPhone Experiences

These experiences taught me about the differences in user interfaces, battery life, and aesthetic factors. While Android phones can be highly customized, the iOS ecosystem offers a more seamless and user-friendly experience. I also learned about the various reasons why people stick to one brand or type of phone, whether it’s ease of use, brand loyalty, or simply having the necessary apps and services they require.

Conclusion and Future Plans

While I’ve had to replace several phones, each one has been educational, and each new iPhone purchase has led to a better understanding of my needs. Currently, I have an iPhone 11 Pro, two 11s, and a Series 4 Apple Watch, and I’m content with this collection of devices. In the future, I plan to prioritize using older, proven models that offer good performance and a balance of cost and functionality.
