Review of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3: A Comprehensive Analysis

When considering the latest budget smartphones, it's important to note that the market is currently flooded with better alternatives to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Available in 2016, the Redmi Note 3 was a popular choice for its price and features, but how does it stand up against modern budget smartphones today?

Overview and Performance

During my period of ownership, which spans two years, I have been very comfortable using the Redmi Note 3. Prior to the newer generation of budget phones, it was a great choice. Despite its age, the phone has remained reliable and issue-free except for a few minor drawbacks.

What I Liked

Exemplary Battery Life: With a 4000mAh battery, the Redmi Note 3 charges fully in about 1.5 hours, making it suitable for heavy use. Exceptional Gaming Performance: Currently, I am playing Real Steel on my device, and I experience no frame drops or lag, thanks to its powerful processor. Customization: The device allows for extensive customization, including different colors for the notification LED for different tasks. Bright Display and Speaker: The display is bright, and the speakers provide a good output, perfect for watching movies. Responsive Buttons: The buttons are backlit, providing adequate visibility in low-light conditions and ensuring swift and comfortable operation. Smooth Multitasking: The phone handles multitasking without any hanging or lag, ensuring a seamless experience.

What I Disliked

Proximity Sensor Issues: The proximity sensor does not function accurately. When placed close to the ear, the screen lights turn off, and when removed, the sensor fails to turn the lights on. Cameras: The cameras are subpar. When the phone is just about to take a good photo, the outcome is often yellowish, making it less desirable, especially for photography enthusiasts. Screen Responsiveness: At times, the screen does not respond, requiring the phone to be restarted to resolve the issue. Limited Hotspot Options: There are very few options or settings available for the Wi-Fi hotspot, limiting the flexibility of the device. Heat Sensitivity: While typical, the phone tends to heat up to 43 degrees, particularly when running data for extended periods or during downloads. This is usually manageable unless you're gaming or watching movies.

Conclusion: For a Medium User, the Phone is Good

Overall, the Redmi Note 3 is a solid choice for a medium user. The phone excels in terms of battery life, performance, and customization. However, it falls short in some areas, making it less suitable for those who need a high-performance device or are very particular about camera quality.
